Tyler Harris grew up in Long Island, raised by his parents, alongside three brothers and two sisters. Each of his siblings played the game of basketball, where his father taught them the dedication of striving to be successful in the game of basketball and life. They were taught the importance of a hard work ethic as they focused on both school and basketball. After winning a New York State championship and a Long Island Championship alongside his brother Tobias Harris (NBA forward), Tyler earned several scholarships to play D1 basketball. Shortly after, he made his

commitment to play at NC State University of the ACC, one of the best conferences in the country. He knew he would have to prove his position and earn his minutes, but this is something Tyler faced head-on. That same year NC State made it to the Sweet-16 of the NCAA tournament, a great accomplishment for a university in college basketball.

Tyler soon after decided to take his talents to another school where he felt he would have a better opportunity to succeed. He found himself committing to Providence College of the Big East Conference with this decision. After sitting out the first year due to NCAA regulations for transfers, Tyler went on to win a Big East Championship in his first year for Providence as a starter, averaging 11.6 PTS and 5 REBS. This marked the first time Providence won a conference championship in 20 years. Next season, Tyler helped his team get back to the NCAA tournament with his progressing talents while earning his bachelor's degree that same year.

After his time with Providence College, Tyler decided to move to another school with one more year of eligibility to play, transferring to the Auburn University of the SEC. From there, he went on to average 14 PTS and 8 REBS on the court. Following yet another successful season, Tyler graduated with his master's degree and was ready to pursue his dream of getting to the NBA to follow in his brother's footsteps.

We all dream of making it to the NBA as basketball players, but it doesn't always pan out the way we want. We sometimes end up overseas, where Tyler has played his professional career for the past six years. Though playing a small stint in the NBA G-League, it is overseas where Tyler has made a living building his career, striving to push to play at the highest level possible. To date, he has played in some of the top leagues in France, Japan, Argentina, and Qatar.

Tyler continues to build on his basketball IQ and talent as he progresses through his career. Regardless of where he finds himself playing, he dedicates his time and efforts to show that he is the most intelligent, hard-working, dedicated player on the court. He has proven that his work ethic is the best any coach or player has seen, and this very competitiveness is what has gotten him so far in the game of basketball. His work ethic portrays a champion who loves to win; however, Tyler continues to strive to achieve more regardless of success.

Growing up, Tyler always looked up to his brother. He notes, "we were like twins being only a year apart. When Tobias was a star in high school and then went to the NBA, I always thought that it would be me following in his footsteps, but I soon learned that what I wanted took more than what I was giving." This lesson taught Tyler that giving more resulted in more coming back to him, and from then on, even without the NBA, Tyler created a career and life for himself that showed his success as an athlete in the game of basketball that he could be proud of.

Regardless of the mistakes, lost games, or missed shots, Tyler never lets his failures get the best of him. It is quite the opposite, as these moments motivate him to strive for more success. Currently, Tyler reflects on some of the critical moments in his career, advice from NBA greats, and other experiences that have helped craft him as both a man and an athlete to help him guide the next generation of athletes. Tyler notes, "I must teach, lead and dedicate myself to the youth for them to find the same success my brother and I once dreamed of as young students of the game." Knowing how dedicated and successful Tyler strived to be in basketball is how he knows he will be able to ensure success in the futures of our youth.
